Welcome to the first blog on the first day of first grade. Just wanted to get a lot of firsts in there, because I could. 🙂 First things first (Look . . . I did it again!), I began with a goal in mind for each of my students today. It sounded like this: Each student will laugh and have fun as they begin to get to know one another, feel cared for, make the classroom their own, learn things about their teacher, and take home a self-created piece.
So the question is . . . was this goal accomplished? I hope that your first grader shares with you to let you know about a the things we did today and then you can determine if the goal was met. Check out a list of the verbs describing the things we did throughout our day, they include: laughing, singing, playing (with food!), creating (crowns), observing (Bradford), sharing, and . . . friending. (I know that last one is not really a word, but they started becoming friends with one another!)
I hope your first grader had an AMAZING day and is ready for day number two! I am excited to learn with and get to know each of the first graders in our class! (Check out a sneak peek below of one of our food creations. You will get to see more photos on our regular blog post this Thursday.)
